Bao Chuanyun

Bao Chuanyun, professor and former dean of the Graduate School of Translation, Interpretation, and Language Education at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey, is vice president of the China Academy of Translation. He graduated from the United Nations Translators and Interpreters Program at Beijing Foreign Studies University in 1985. He then served as a staff interpreter at the United Nations Office in Geneva before joining the translation and interpretation faculty at MIIS in 1990. He has successively served as teacher, director of the MIIS Chinese Department and dean of MIIS. He is a member of the International Association of Conference Interpreters. In addition to administrative, teaching and research work, he continues to work as a freelance translator and interpreter for the United Nations and other international organizations. His research focuses primarily on the study of conference interpreting.
